We all have dreams and aspirations, but how we go about them can often significantly determine the outcome.
I have been following my passion on writing, speaking and coach on leadership and looking to help create more Inspirational Leaders, because I believe that Inspiring Leaders can help make the world a better place.
I have been successful in gaining recognition and positive feedback on what I have done so far, but I feel that I have a hit ceiling.
I want to take it to the next level, and I have been trying to do that and it’s been tough going.
Just recently I attended an Emerging Leaders Conference, and one of the comments that really struck a chord with me was when it comes to personal development, if you’re the smartest person in the room, then you need to find another room.
Now whilst it would be arrogant, and incorrect, to suggest I am the smartest person in the room, it was also mentioned that we are the average of the 5 people we spend most time with, and again this struck a chord with me.
If my goal is to play a bigger game, to have more of an impact, then I need to be associating with new people, as well as my current friends, new people who play a bigger game themselves. People who will ask me different questions, challenge me differently to how I have been challenged before.
If we want to grow, personally or professionally, then we have to give ourselves the right stimuli, and if what we have been doing isn’t giving us the results we want, then we need to change our approach. We need to up our game, find ways to challenge us, we are all capable of so much more, it’s just a question of finding out how to unleash it.
Interestingly, not sure whether this is a universal law or not, but I can do this for others, helping them achieve their full potential, I am just not good at doing for myself.
So with this in mind my wife and I have decided to move to Florida, as I need a change of environment, some new and some bigger influences.
This move gives me the opportunity to take up some additional coaching with Kellie Keucha, join a ready-made community of like minded people whom I can bounce ideas off of, as well as a Mastermind group, one which includes people who have run multimillion dollar businesses, which will definitely give me different perspectives.
It’s a leap of faith, but if you never jump, you will never fly!
There are very few guarantees in life, but for sure, if you always do things the way you have always done them, then you will always get the same results.
Many of us fear change, but good change should be embraced, it’s that which will take us to the next level.
So if you’re looking to significantly raise your game, then look at the room that you are in and ask whether everyone in the room is smarter than you and if the answer is no, then you need to find another room, because you’re limiting your growth.
