How To Create A Multi-Platform Social Media Marketing Strategy

Every business owner knows that social media marketing is important, but many people make the mistake of only focusing on a single platform. If you want your social media strategy to be successful, you need to make sure that you have a strong presence on multiple different platforms and you understand how to tailor your content to each different platform. Developing a multi-platform social media strategy can be difficult but if you follow these simple steps, you can improve your social media marketing by gaining a following on a range of different platforms.

Set Goals

Setting goals for your social media strategy is vital because if you don’t have a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve, your strategy will not have any direction. Start thinking about what you are hoping to get out of your social media marketing. For example, do you want to generate more leads, improve your customer service, increase brand awareness or inspire customer loyalty? The kind of posts that you should be making and the platforms that you use depend on your social media goals, so you can’t do anything until you have decided what you want to achieve.

Understand Different Platforms

Once you have some goals, you need to start deciding which platforms your business should use, which means you need to understand the differences. Some platforms, like Instagram and Snapchat, are better for reaching a younger audience and they work best when you rely on visual content. Facebook has the largest user base but it is not always the most effective platform for marketing and you will find that paid ads are the best way to use the platform. Twitter is a great general platform which is brilliant for brand building and you can use it to reach people from a wide range of demographics. If you sell a product or service to other businesses, LinkedIn is a great platform for marketing.

As well as understanding what kind of people you will find on each platform and what kind of posts are the most successful, you need to experiment with posting at different times, so you can work out what time you are likely to get the most impressions.

Cross Post Your Best Content

If you make a great video post on Instagram, why not put it on the rest of your social media platforms as well, so you can reach more people? You can use an ins video download program to save all of your videos so you can use them on other platforms. Many social media platforms already have built in features for cross posting, so make sure to use them.

Create Unique Content

This may sound like a contradiction because it’s important to cross post your content, but it’s equally important to create unique content on each platform. Different people respond to different kinds of content and something that works well on Facebook won’t necessarily land well with people on Instagram. You need to consider the kinds of people on each platform and tailor your marketing content towards them.

Creating a multi-platform social media strategy will boost your brand and you should notice a big increase in traffic to your website and, hopefully, an increase in sales as well.
