Leadership legacy

legacy

As a leader what do you want your legacy to be?

How do you want to be remembered?

Do you want to be known as the leader that delivered great results, or one who delivered a significant transformational change, or do you want to be remembered as a great innovative leader, such as Steve Jobs?

In today’s world where people are seen as commodities, which can be disposed of, if the right results are not delivered, I want to be remembered as a leader who helped develop people, to achieve their full potential.

As someone who developed the next generation of leaders and prepared people for the challenges ahead.

We often here that people are our greatest assets, and I want to be remembered as a leader who invested in these assets, to create high performing organisations.

As an individual there is only so much I can achieve, but as a leader if I can inspire, motivate and develop an organisation, the next generation of leaders, then the level of achievement can be unlimited.

I believe that if I take this approach, then great results, transformational changes and even innovations will be delivered by the high performing organisation that I have helped create.

Each new leader that I help develop becomes a multiplier, extending my impact and my ability to drive results. The more leaders I help develop the bigger and better the results that will be achieved. The bigger my legacy will be.

I only see these approaches as mutually exclusive, when the focus is on results, as this focus won’t necessarily result in the development of the next generation of leaders, and could restrict what we can ultimately achieve.

What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered as a leader?.
