Yesterday I was having a discussion with a colleague and I asked him how he was.
He said, “not good”.
When I asked him why he told me one of his staff was due to retire last friday, but unfortunately he had had a heart attack and died on thursday, one day before his retirement.
As I heard this I too was deeply saddened.
I couldn’t imagine what it must be like for his family.
One day before retirement he had died. Imagine all the plans that he must have had for his retirement, all of the things that he had put off, knowing that in a few months he would have all the time in the world to do them.
It was a great reminder that we only get one life, we never now how long it will last, and that maybe we shouldn’t put things off until we retire, because that day might not come.
Live life now!
