New Goals

setting goals

Having run my first Marathon in April, having helped my friends complete their friends their first Marathon on Sunday, and having finished my first book, I have completed the Big Goals that I on my to do list.

I do plan to run another couple of Marathons, butI see that more as Business as Usual.

So now is the time for me to set myself some new Bold Goals for myself, but what?

Some friends have suggested I try the Ironman, but – and I sure this will be good news to my real friends – that is not something that I have much interest in.

I have thought about writing another book, but again I see that as Business as Usual too.

So what now?

What is that Big Beautiful Goal I should be setting myself?

If you have a suggestion let me know?

thanks

  1. Dont’ just stick to one marathon or one book etc, follow up with more. Thats if you enjoyed doing them. My husband Gerry started running marathons at 65, he said it was instead of taking up his slippers and pipe. He ran 5 in total one a year, raising money for charity. He still runs half marathons but more often. As marathons take lots of time to train for, time he now spends on other things. What bold goals you decide should be based on
    1) what you would feel great about achieving,
    2) what you have time for
    3) what would excite you
    4) how it fits into your life and responsibilities at this time
They don’t have to be just competitions or self motivated, what could you do for others, that would feed into your passions, or skills you already have. Some of lifes boldest goals that fullfill our lives the most are the ones that help others. You sound like you have a lot to give. So maybe thats somewhere to start looking.
Look forward to hearing what your goals end up being. Think outside of the box, extreme sports are great, but there is a whole other world of difficult challenges out there that could be even more exciting, and that would help far more people, thats real leadership, which sounds like just up your street.

  2. Sue thanks for the advice and input. I am going to continue running and also writing, but my question is more and what else? What else that I haven’t done could i do?

On the running I am now looking to run in the Athens Marathon over the original course form 2500 years ago, which i think will be a great experience 🙂

  3. In stead of writting booke now , start doing presentation on the sein in different continente, country, city and with that you’ll get other experience which will help you in the future to understand the leadership in each social-culture and with all these knowledge you can write one of the best book in this speciality.

  4. Gordon, i know this one is on your mind a well: I am currently writing a comedy program, based on stories i gathered in the business world in the last 15 years. Not sure if i ever will be on stage – but to much good stories – they should be written down 😉

With your experience your show will even be bigger….
