New Horizons, New Opportunities, New Inspirations

new horizonsThis week my wife Carine and I will be relocating from Germany to Florida.

We have had a fantastic time in Germany, which is really a very nice place to live, for sure it has its eccentricities, but so does everywhere, and some of these have rubbed off on both of us such as standing at the traffic lights and waiting for them to change colour even though there isn’t a car within 200 miles 🙂

We have made some great friends here in Germany who we will miss very much, and we have made some big changes in our lives, but now it’s time to move on to a new chapter.

We decided to move to Florida for a number of reasons:

  • we wanted to retain our green cards
  • we wanted to live somewhere warm
  • we wanted to live somewhere where English was the main language
  • did I mention we wanted to live somewhere warm

When we visited Florida back in august we were immediately impressed with the energy of the place, I know you’re probably thinking what? energy? Florida? Isn’t that where people go to retire?

Maybe, but when we were there we met a group of entrepreneurs who have great energy, a great sense of can do will do, and we found that very inspiring, and as inspiration is infectious we became inspired too.

You can’t argue with the weather in Florida, blue skies are inspirational too and when you add the fact that we get to achieve our two goals of keeping our green cards and living in an english speaking environment, it was a no brainer.

Returning to Scottsdale where we lived previously was always an option, we loved Scottsdale have great friends there too, but Carine and I are always open to try new places, this will be the 6 place and 5th country we have lived in the last 12 years, having lived in the UK, Holland, Czech Republic, US and Germany.

We loved all the places we lived in, made great friends, and we know that you get out what you put in, so we are really looking forward to putting a lot in into our move to Florida.

From a leadership perspective Florida isn’t a bad choice either, both John Maxwell and Tony Robbins live in West Palm Beach, among others, which is the area we will be moving to, so we will be in great company, and I hope to be able to get to meet these two giants of leadership.

The World Leaders Conference is also held in West Palm Beach every year, in March, and hopefully this will give me the opportunity to meet up with Ken Blanchard who is my favourite leadership author.

We will be moving to Delray Beach which is a great area, living just one mile ocean, so that will be great and it will give me the opportunity to run alongside the ocean rather than the Rhine as I continue to do my marathon training for the up coming races in 2015.

If you are ever in the area, feel free to drop me an email and we can look to arrange for a beer and a chat.

Feeling inspired and looking forward to the next chapter of our lives 🙂
