  1. Hi Gordon,

On my last assignment, my main boss was approachable but sometimes she could be very cross. She had a “My way or the highway” attitude, and we lost good employees, as well as good and potentially good customers. Customers would often approach me and express their disappointment. I respectfully tried to get her to see the “Closed door” of her thinking; and her poor treatment of our customer’s. I realized that in her own eyes she was a success, and she didn’t need to change. I endured this poor work ethic for two years, before my own departure.
I have never understood this kind of thinking, why wouldn’t a business not want to improve or expand? How could they not realize the importance of their customer base,as well as employee morale?

It reminds me of Jesus’ words:

Mark 10:44-45 – “And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

A perfect example of a servant leader with an open door policy.

  2. PFG – i hear you, some people just don’t see it or get it. In my last company people used to sit with the office doors open and think they had an open door policy. But if people are afraid t come in, then its just as closed as it was before.
Unbelievable that people are rude to customers, there’s a shortage of those 🙂
