A picture paints a thousand words, and when I saw this image it really reminded me of how some companies implement diversity.
On the surface it looks like diversity, but but when you take a closer look, this isn’t really that diverse at all. It’s dressed up to look like diversity, but in reality it’s nothing more than a token gesture.
Real diversity is about inclusion of different viewpoints to ensure that our solutions include the best thoughts and ideas that are available.
Real diversity comes from the inclusion of different cultures, sexes, age groups, backgrounds and nationalities into our workforces, at all levels.
The input of these different groups needs to be valued, considered, discussed and seen as a real contribution, not something that is noted down and forgotten as soon as the ink is dry.
Anything other than this is just a token gesture.
