Yesterday I watched what I believe was one of the greatest sporting performances that I have ever seen, and a fantastic example of determination.
Even though everything looked lost Christine Ohuruou just didn’t give up, she believed in herself, she thought that if she kept going she could gain the win that she was looking for.
As I watched it, I though her effort was all in vain, I am sure that even I would have possibly given up the chase, but not Christine.
In the analysis afterwards, 400m legend Michael Johnson said, that “Christine is not the most naturally talented or gifted athletes, but she has a mental toughness and determination that allows her to beat other much more talented runners”.
This is the Power of Determination, it allows us to make the absolute best of our skills, it allows us to overcome others who should beat us, but whom do not have the same determination.
Determination is a quality I always look for when recruiting staff, if you don’t have determination, then I won’t be hiring you.
Determination is often the difference between success and failure, and if you don’t have it, then you will experience much more failure than success.
Watch this video and see the Power of Determination.
